on January 26, 2013 at 8:10 AM, updated January 26, 2013 at 8:11 AMTRENTON — Three daytime shootings that left damage to buildings and cars but no verifiable injuries in different sections of the city this week are under investigation by police.
The most recent shooting was yesterday, when police were called out to the 800 block of Stuyvesant Avenue around 12:55 p.m. following a 911 call about a man having been shot, Lt. Steve Varn said.
“When officers went out, they found no victims, but there was evidence of a shooting there,” he said.
Local hospitals were checked for anyone who may have walked in with a gunshot wound, but police did not find a report of anyone seeking treatment.
Two crime scenes had been cordoned off on Stuyvesant Avenue: one directly in front of the Rodriguez Mini-Market and New Home Liquors, the other across the street from a concealed alleyway. City police and Mercer County Sheriff’s officers were examining the scenes and picking up evidence.
The earlier shootings this week happened Tuesday and Wednesday. Around 10 a.m. Tuesday on the first block of North Hermitage Avenue, gunfire from at least two suspects damaged a business and a car.
“Officers sent there spoke with the victim, who said he was in one of the buildings, heard the shots fired, saw two black males running from the area,” Varn said.
The suspects were believed to have ran away on Boudinot Street towards Murray Street. No arrests have been made.
Two people were inside a home on the first block of East Paul Avenue around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday when it was shot up. Police found the house had been struck by gunfire numerous times. There were no witnesses and no suspect descriptions, and police were unable to say whether they believe the residents of the home were being targeted.
