TRENTON — Two city men were stabbed and shots were fired during a street brawl in Chambersburg early today, police said.

The 24-year-old and 28-year-old victims were stabbed during a fight involving “numerous” people on the 300 block of Franklin Street, Lt. Steve Varn said.

Police were called just after 1 a.m. on a report of a large brawl that included gunshots.
“Officers found two individuals that had suffered stab wounds to their backs,” Varn said.

The men were taken by ambulance to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Police said the two victims were walking toward their car on Franklin Street when they became involved in a confrontation on the street that quickly turned physical. Police did not know exactly how many people were involved.

Evidence of a shooting was recovered at the scene, Varn said. There were no indications anyone else was injured.

Police had only one description of a suspect who may have been involved in the fight. He was described as a black male about 25 years old, weighing 160 to 170 pounds.
