Trenton man injured during robbery, police say

on April 11, 2013 at 9:00 AM, updated April 11, 2013 at 9:03 AMTRENTON — A city man suffered numerous lacerations to his head during an assault and robbery Tuesday night, police said.
The 24-year-old was walking on the first block of North Eastfield Avenue around 8:20 p.m. when a man approached him and demanded money. When he did not immediately get what he asked for, the suspect began assaulting the victim, Lt. Steve Varn said.
Three other suspects joined in and continued beating the victim, taking his cell phone before fleeing toward Edgewood Avenue.
Police described the first suspect as a black male, 5 foot 9, with a muscular build and wearing a red and white T-shirt. Full descriptions of the other suspects were not available.
The victim was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center to be treated for his injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.
