Police are now looking for the 33-year-old man who they say reached to the stove for a weapon when the fight intensified.
“As a result of the argument, the friend threw a pot of water on him,” Lt. Steve Varn said yesterday.
The two men were in a home on South Clinton Avenue around 6 p.m. when they began arguing, Varn said. The hot water from the pot left burns on the victim’s right arm and chest, police said.
The scalded man fled to the first block of South Olden Avenue and an ambulance was called there at about 1 a.m. Thursday. Police were sent out when the EMS personnel found out how he was burned.
The man was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center and transferred to St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston for advanced care.
Police have identified the suspect but did not release his name. Varn said he could be charged with aggravated assault and possibly with possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose.
