on April 17, 2013 at 8:36 PMRENTON — A city woman waiting for a friend in a parked car in the city’s Wilbur section was forced to remove her jewelry Tuesday by a man armed with a gun, police said.
The 30-year-old victim was robbed in broad daylight by the gunman, who remains at large.
She was inside her car parked near the corner of Walnut Avenue and Chambers Street around 4 p.m., Lt. Steve Varn said.
The robber approached her car, brandished a handgun and demanded property. She turned over her purse to him, and he made her take off the jewelry she was wearing and hand it over to him. The woman was unhurt during the robbery.
The gunman fled on foot before police arrived. He was described as a black male, about 28 years old, dark-skinned, 5 foot 8 inches, average build, wearing a white T-shirt.
Varn said there was no indication the victim and suspect knew one another, or that the robbery was part of a domestic dispute.
The case is under investigation. Anyone with information should call police at (609) 989-4170, or the Confidential Tip Line at (609) 989-3663.
