Trenton man arrested for making false 911 calls, carrying assault rifle

on April 18, 2013 at 10:22 PMTRENTON — A city man who wanted to send police on a wild goose chase Wednesday night wound up leading them to himself when he stated his location during two false 911 calls, police said.
Casey Corker, 25, was found with an assault rifle on the 800 block of Stuyvesant Avenue and was arrested, Lt. Mark Kieffer said today.
City officers were sent running ragged around 10:45 p.m., when Corker allegedly called and reported shots being fired on the 600 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard.
“Also, at almost the exact same time, there was a call for a man shot on West State Street and West End,” Kieffer said. Police said Corker made that call, too.
Police checked out both calls and found they were false. But a dispatcher had asked Corker’s location and he had given it — apparently truthfully — as the 800 block of Stuyvesant, Kieffer said.
Officers Charles Lamin and Porsche Ames went to the area, where they found Corker among a small group of people. They found the assault weapon on Corker, and he was arrested, police said.
Corker was charged with weapons offenses, possession of a high-capacity magazine, and false public alarm. The officers also recovered Corker’s cell phone, allegedly used to make the false 911 calls.
