Good Samaritans stop robber who pushed 63-year-old woman to ground outside Trenton bank

on May 08, 2013 at 8:57 PMTRENTON — Several Good Samaritans who saw a man push down and rob a 63-year-old woman outside a city bank Tuesday held the suspect until authorities could arrive and arrest him, police said today.
The woman was at the ATM outside of the Roma Bank on the 1400 block of South Broad Street around 3:30 p.m., where she was allegedly confronted by 36-year-old Trenton resident Todd Oravsky.
“She starts walking away from him, he pushes her to the ground, takes her ATM card and $50 cash and takes off on his bicycle,” Lt. Mark Kieffer said.
The Good Samaritans who saw this grabbed Oravsky and knocked him to the ground. They held him until Mercer County Sheriff’s Officers C.J. McKenna and Thomas Sweeney arrived along with Trenton police Officers Michael Terman and Thomas Pacillo.
The officers arrested Oravsky and charged him with strong-arm robbery, Kieffer said. Oravsky was searched for the stolen property.
Though the woman’s ATM card was found on Oravsky and returned to her, the $50 cash was not, police said. It is not clear what happened to the money.
