on May 08, 2013 at 2:19 PM, updated May 08, 2013 at 2:40 PMTRENTON — The National Endowment for the Arts today announced $45 million in state and regional partnerships grants, including $825,600 to the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
The 60 grants support the work of 54 state and jurisdictional arts agencies and six regional groups. They were expected to be announced last month as part of the NEA’s second round of grants, but were delayed because of the federal budget sequester.
The grants represent an 8 percent cut from last year, when the NEA awarded $48.8 million to its state and regional partners.
New Jersey’s grant is $54,000 less than last year’s award, a 6 percent cut. Arts council executive director Nicholas Paleologos said last month he had budgeted for a 5 to 8 percent cut in the federal grant, which supports various arts programs around the state.
