on May 10, 2013 at 4:24 PMTRENTON — A gang member charged with orchestrating a murder via the online site Myspace was shot yesterday in the city, shortly before today’s conviction of another co-defendant in the case, an attorney involved in the case said.
The county prosecutor’s office told lawyer Mark Fury that Brandon Edwards, 25, was wounded in a street shooting yesterday, Fury said.
Edwards was in stable condition at Capital Health Regional Medical Center today, hospital officials said.
Edwards and three others were indicted in 2009 for allegedly using the online site Myspace to plan the murder of 20-year-old Arrel Bell. One of the others indicted, Fury’s client Keith Williams, was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder this morning.
Bell was found dead in the city in May 2008 with two bullet wounds to the back of his head.
Police could not immediately be reached for comment. They reported two shooting yesterday, one of which wounded a 17-year-old.
In the other shooting, on South Cook and Euclid avenues, a man was wounded near the chest after an argument on the street, police said last night.
