DOT to repave parts of Route 29, Route 33, other roads in Trenton, Ewing, Hamilton

on June 12, 2013 at 1:56 PMSections of highways in Mercer County and the region will be milled and repaved over the next few months, the state Department of Transportation announced today.
Several stretches of Route 29 will be repaired, including a 1.5-mile southbound stretch between Calhoun Street and north of Lalor Street, the DOT said in a news release.
Northbound and southbound lanes of Route 29 in Ewing, between Route 175 and the D&R Canal, and in Lambertville between Route 179 and West Amwell will also be repaved as part of the $6.5 million contract awarded to Arawak Paving Co. of Flemington.
Construction will also occur on a 2.8-mile stretch of Route 33, on both sides of the road, between Paxson Avenue in Hamilton and the Route 130 intersection in Robbinsville.
The entirety of Route 156, in both directions, will be repaired, the DOT said.
The northbound tract of Route 202, between Route 31 in the Ringoes section of West Amwell and Old York Road in East Amwell, will be repaired as well.
The work will be performed under the allowable lane closures schedule, maintaining at least one travel lane at each location during peak travel hours.
According to the DOT, the repairs will improve the lifespan of pavement along the roadways, including travel lanes, turn lanes, ramps and shoulders.
Curb ramps will be installed where necessary to meet federal disability requirements, and new cameras will be installed at select intersections to detect oncoming traffic and program traffic lights accordingly.
Arawak is expected to begin construction this week on Route 202 in East Amwell. Work on all the roads is expected to be complete in late fall.
