New contributions from Times readers, including $1,000 from an anonymous donor from Langhorne, Pa., have helped bring the total raised for the 2013 Times-Kiwanis Camp Fund to $13,600 to date.

The goal of this year’s campaign is to raise $25,000 to help send area youngsters with financial and special needs to summer camp.

When the 2013 Camp Fund total hit $11,370 last Sunday, the Rose and Louis H. Linowitz Charitable Foundation pledged to match the next $5,000 raised by the community, challenging readers to be generous in donating to this year’s campaign. This means that $2,770 is still needed to meet the foundation’s challenge.

The Trenton Kennel Club, a longtime supporter of the Times-Kiwanis Camp Fund, also sent a gift of $1,000 with a note, “The Trenton Kennel Club enthusiastically supports the Times-Kiwanis Camp Fund, which sends so many deserving children to that wonderful place called camp.”

Ray Niedzwicz of Hamilton sent $100 with a note, “Have fun!”

Karen Zumbrunn of Princeton sent $50 and Meryl Miller of Plainsboro, $30.
Gifts of $25 each were received from Robert Kecskes of Pennington and Rich Conte of Trenton.

Many thanks to these benefactors.

With the help of the Times-Kiwanis Camp Fund, now in its 58th year, participating youngsters referred through public and private agencies have been able to attend camps, including those run by the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, YMCA Camp Mason, Family Guidance Center, HomeFront, The Arc Mercer, the Westside Community Center and Trenton YMCA.

Please join The Times, Kiwanis Club of Trenton and the community in making a difference in a child’s life. Make your check, in any amount, payable to Times Charities Inc. and send it to The Times-Kiwanis Camp Fund, 413 River View Plaza, Trenton, NJ, 08611.
