TRENTON – Up to $27 million in repairs to the aging, dilapidated Trenton Central High School will begin next summer, the state Schools Development Authority said today.

A survey of the interior has already begun and is expected to last seven months. The design for the interior will take place in winter and spring 2014 with construction starting in summer 2015. The release did not say when the work would be completed.

In an interview last week, Duran said he thought the SDA was moving too slowly on the school repairs and the district was working with the state to spur action.

The SDA is responsible for building and repairing schools in the state’s poorest district. However, the Trenton school board is funding more than $2.7 million worth of work this summer, including $1.1 million in roof repairs at the high school.
