TRENTON – A four-alarm fire at an abandoned factory kept Trenton firefighters battling flames for hours early this morning and left the building destroyed.

No one was injured in the blaze at 104 Taylor Street and the cause has not yet been determined, but Trenton Battalion Chief Ron Kosztyu said the scene could have been worse had the fire fully spread to a nearby warehouse storing furniture along North Olden Avenue.

“The guys did a tremendous job stopping the spread of the fire to 319 Olden considering the volume of fire they had,” Kosztyu said this afternoon. “We’d still be there if that caught fire.”

Crews first responded to the scene at 3:50 a.m., after receiving multiple calls that an abandoned factory was on fire, Kosztyu said.
