TRENTON — One lane of Route 29 northbound will be closed on Saturday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. as construction crews continue the demolition of the former Glen Cairn Arms apartments.

The right lane and shoulder of the northbound roadway and the Calhoun Street exit ramp will be closed as a safety precaution, the state Department of Transportation announced.

Drivers destined for Calhoun Street will be detoured around the crews. If it rains on Saturday, the demolition work will be moved back until Sunday.

Crews started demolition of the massive apartment complex on West State Street in September. The site was purchased by Thomas Edison State College to use as the site of a new building for its nursing program.

On Nov. 9, Route 29 and all access ramps will be closed between Route 129 and Lower Ferry Road from 6 a.m. until around 12:30 p.m. for the Trenton half marathon. During the race the “Trenton Makes” bridge on Warren Street and the Calhoun Street bridge, which connect Trenton with Morrisville, Pa., will be closed in both directions.
