TRENTON — Capital Health Regional Medical Center has completed an expansion of its emergency department as it faces increased demand for its services, the hospital announced yesterday.

After about three months of work, the emergency department at the hospital’s Brunswick Avenue location is now equipped with 35 beds, including three designated for urgent care patients, making it the largest emergency room in Trenton, hospital spokeswoman Jayne O’Connor said.

“This latest expansion is one of the many enhancements made to Regional Medical Center over the past several years, and more important, it speaks to our continuing commitment to provide Trenton-area residents with access to advanced, comprehensive healthcare,” President and CEO Al Maghazehe said in the hospital’s news release.

The expanded emergency department adds to improvements made during a $100 million renovation completed in 2011.
