The 38-year-old man was on the ground when he was shot in the left foot, and the bullet passed through and into his right foot, said Lt. Mark Kieffer, a police spokesman.
He was on the phone and walking on Stuyvesant Avenue near Beachwood Avenue around 10:30 p.m. when he was allegedly approached by eight men and struck with a brick.
“And when he fell to the ground, they shot him in the foot,” Kieffer said.
The suspects took the victim’s cell phone and fled. The victim made it to the corner of Hoffman Avenue and Oakland Street, where he was spotted by a passing police vehicle around 10:30 p.m.
