Editorial: Credit report for Trenton candidates would be a smart, transparent step toward leadership

She intends to introduce a measure urging candidates for city office to release a personal credit report so voters can gauge their financial competency.
That’s a particularly urgent matter for a city with a $200 million budget in the hands of a mayor who has struggled with financial difficulties for years — and now awaits trial on federal charges of corruption.
Before his election, Tony Mack was the business administrator of the Barrington School District in Camden County. He was let go from that job after a year and a half when an audit revealed accounting irregularities.
