Candidates for Trenton mayor and council asked to pick up paperwork

on January 03, 2014 at 7:00 AM, updated January 03, 2014 at 7:10 AMTRENTON — Candidates interested in running for mayor or city council in Trenton this spring will be able to pick up the documents and petitions needed to run for office starting Monday, the city clerk announced yesterday.
The documents can be obtained at the clerk’s office at City Hall beginning Monday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., said clerk Richard Kachmar. The election, when voters will make their choice for mayor, council-at-large and council members for the north, south, east and west wards, is scheduled for May 13.
All petitions must be filed by March 10. Those running for mayor and the “at-large” council seats must have 238 signatures of registered Trenton voters, while candidates for the West Ward need 99 signatures, North Ward needs 60, South Ward candidates need 32 signatures and East Ward candidates need 47.
