VolunteerConnect links those with professional expertise with nonprofits

While the months leading up to Christmas are a busy time for everyone, the holiday season proves especially hectic for Mercer County’s nonprofit organizations. Demand begins increasing just as staffing starts to slim, putting extra pressure on groups already strapped for cash and resources.

Many nonprofits, such as the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, are on the hunt for any volunteer with an able body and a warm smile.

But one organization, VolunteerConnect of Princeton, is using a different approach.
For nearly two years, VolunteerConnect has been linking specialized volunteers with nonprofit groups that need them the most.

“With us, volunteers get to use their professional skills to help nonprofits at a strategic level,” said Amy Klein, executive director of VolunteerConnect.
