Trenton’s Anchor House announces Ride for Runaways to begin in Virginia

TRENTON — Officials at Anchor House have announced this year’s Ride for Runaways will take cyclists through areas of Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania before reaching the finish line at the Quaker Bridge Mall in Lawrence this summer, officials said.

The 36th annual ride will start on July 12 in Lexington, Va., as about 200 participants pedal roughly 500 miles back to New Jersey while raising money for Anchor House, a Trenton organization on Centre Street that provides shelter and aid to runaway, homeless, abused and at-risk young people and their families, ride committee member Tim Quinn said yesterday.

While many of the riders have personal fitness goals, their main reason for participating in the week-long trek is usually the same — helping the kids, said Quinn, who has been participating in the ride for more than 20 years.
