Architect sues Trenton over alleged unpaid work on Mayor’s Learning Centers
By Jenna Pizzi/The Times of Trenton
on January 09, 2014 at 7:40 AMTRENTON — A city architect who says he did work to rehabilitate former libraries to be used as the controversial Mayor’s Learning Centers filed a lawsuit against the city yesterday saying that the city has failed to pay him for work that was completed.
An attorney for Todd Geter, whose company, Todd Geter Architects, did work for the city between January and June in 2012, filed the suit in state court alleging the company is owed $10,090 — $9,490 in wages and $600 in expenses — that was never paid.
According to the lawsuit, the work was solicited by Mayor Tony Mack’s special advisory committee on the Trenton Public Libraries, specifically at the request of mayoral aide Anthony Roberts and City Public Property Director Harold Hall. Geter’s attorney, George Dougherty, said Geter was asked in several meetings with the committee to work with other contractors to bring the buildings, which would be used for that Mayor’s Learning Centers, into compliance with building code.
