Mercer County executive lists bridge upgrades and school repairs as top priorities in yearly speech

The new Mercer County Criminal Courthouse, the Petty’s Run archeological tourist site and Trenton-Mercer Airport’s terminal, runway and parking lot renovations were all completed in 2013, but there are still some projects in the county that need to be addressed, Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes said today.

“It’s no secret to anyone that the 81-year-old Trenton Central High School is literally disintegrating, with leaky roofs and crumbling walls,” Hughes said during his annual State of the County address, hosted by MIDJersey Chamber of Commerce at the Hyatt Regency in West Windsor.

Hughes called for county and state officials to work together to find solutions to address the school’s needs.

Needed repairs at the school have long been delayed as state and city officials have been unable to agree on the type of improvements or the schedule for getting the work completed.
