Novo Nordisk commits $1 million as Boys & Girls Club of Mercer kicks off fundraising campaign

PLAINSBORO — The Boys & Girls Club of Mercer County launched a capital campaign yesterday to raise $7.5 million to help fund a new clubhouse that will reach more teenagers and show them a path toward success.

Novo Nordisk, the Plainsboro-based pharmaceutical company, kicked off the club’s “More Than Hope” campaign with a $1 million commitment.

“I think having a company like Novo Nordisk … that puts a stamp on a project like this tells the community how important it is and to back that up with both the leadership and the $1 million check is inspiring,” said David Anderson, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club.

The company, which promotes the notion that businesses can simultaneously be profitable and foster social responsibility and environmental awareness, has a “long and rich history” with the organization, said Jeff Frazier, corporate vice president and Boys & Girls Club board member.
