on February 05, 2014 at 10:20 AM, updated February 05, 2014 at 10:33 AMTRENTON – Rather than continuing to rack up legal bills, city council voted to approve payment to two construction firms that completed road and sidewalk repairs in 2011.
The resolutions to pay both Jonico Inc. and Diamond Construction were added to Tuesday night’s docket as emergent matters. Council President George Muschal said he and the council felt it was unnecessary to continue to pay to litigate these contracts for which the work was completed but were never paid in full. Muschal added that the city was being charged interest on the unpaid invoices.
“It’s just got to be put on the docket for the taxpayers’ best interest,” Muschal said.
Council unanimously voted to approve a $122,773.25 payment to Diamond and $98,278.39 to Jonico.
