Editorial: Adding to the list of reasons Trenton has much to appreciate, offer

Ingrid Reed delivered a heartfelt valentine to the city of Trenton in an opinion piece published by The Times a few weeks back. “You’re swell,” she declared to the city and its people, acknowledging its trials and tribulations, but saluting its many bright spots. She sounded a bit like a plucky movie character of the Barbara Stanwyck variety. And, like Barbara Stanwyck usually was, she’s right.
Reed, the former director of the NJ Project at the Eagleton Institute of Politics and chairwoman of the board of directors for NJ Spotlight, counted the ways Trenton is unique and vibrant and built to withstand shifting winds of political pollution.
The city’s solid foundation extends to the earliest history of region’s native dwellers, its importance in the economy of the colony of New Jersey and its vital role in the American Revolution.
