Editorial: Habitat for Humanity is building lives, communities in N.J. by building homes

The Habitat for Humanity of Trenton is doing its part to help families come in from the cold with development of a “sevenplex build,” a row of seven houses on the 500 block of North Clinton Avenue in Trenton.

The Trenton effort continues a mission that’s resulted in the construction, rehabilitation or repair of 800,000 homes around the world, a milestone reached late last year in Atlanta.

Fittingly, that milestone house rose in the home state of the humble and hardworking Jimmy Carter who has dedicated his post-presidential years to making the world a better place.

Officials estimate that with an average of five people per Habitat home, the Atlanta house represents an estimated 4 million people who have improved their living conditions through Habitat’s housing solutions in more than 70 countries over nearly 40 years.
