AT&T gives $40,000 to boost Boys & Girls Club’s STEM programs

TRENTON — In a room inside the Boys & Girls Club on Centre Street, two high school seniors tinker with computer parts, while a group of middle-schoolers play a math game, moving around cups and coins to learn about probability.

The programs help to ignite an interest in science, technology, engineering and math
programs among the students and received a $40,000 boost from AT&T so that children in other grade levels can participate.

“What you’re doing is the most important thing that is going on in our country today,” AT&T Mid-Atlantic president Mike Schweder told the students today.

The contribution is part of the company’s Aspire program, which has committed $350 million toward programs nationwide that prepare students to be college- or career-ready.
