Special attorney will be appointed to review Trenton candidate certification error

on March 13, 2014 at 3:16 PM, updated March 13, 2014 at 3:17 PMTRENTON – A special attorney will be selected to review a mix-up that led the City Clerk to tell candidates running in the May municipal election to turn in fewer signatures than they needed to get on the ballot.
Clerk Richard Kachmar said this afternoon that the city will appoint special counsel for the clerk’s office to review the situation.
“It hasn’t been appointed yet,” Kachmar said.
Kachmar said the special outside counsel will be impartial in the situation, especially since all of the current elected officials are candidates with a stake in the matter.
