Catholic Charities program in Trenton provides early intervention for people in crisis

Karalee Pieluc, the associate director of psychosocial rehabilitation and residential services, said this new program, which opened its doors in the first week of March, aims to provide services to people like Syers. Syers said he will continue to come until he finishes the 30-day outpatient program.

“It is going to help people receive services in an environment that is very supportive, a bit more consumer-friendly than a hospital setting and that will be at a much lower cost to the community as a whole,” Pieluc said. “This type of program does not cost nearly what it costs to maintain a hospital so that is part of the beauty of it.”

The program is open to walk-ins and all referrals, but also helps people who call the crisis hotline run by Capital Health Regional Medical Center.
