Rush Holt (D-12th. Dist.) announced that the health center will be receiving a $4 million federal grant this year to support its operations.
“This important funding will support the expansion of critical health services to the people of Trenton,” Holt said. “Henry J. Austin has long been a leader in transforming the delivery of health care in Trenton and this new Bellevue facility will extend quality primary to many more Trenton residents.”
Dr. Kemi Alli, Henry J. Austin’s chief medical officer, said the increase in federal grant funding is essential for the health center to expand services to its patients.
“This federal grant is the way, as a community health center, we are able to provide services to the uninsured and the underinsured,” Alli said. “I look forward to really providing a wider scope of service to more people in the city.”
The $4 million was an increase over last year’s $3.2 million award — with the extra funding going toward both opening the new location and increasing outreach and enrollment.
