Trenton leaders, ownership celebrate grand reopening of Lafayette Street hotel

Calling it an investment in the quality of life in the capital city, Gov. Chris Christie today officiated in the groundbreaking ceremony for Thomas Edison State College’s $26 million nursing center.The new center will be built at the site of the former Glen Cairn Arms apartment complex, located at West State and Calhoun streets in Trenton.

“I’m particularly happy to be here at this event because this is my neighborhood,” Christie said.

The governor pointed out that the location of the site was formerly an eyesore and he was saddened by the fact that it was the first thing people saw when they drove into the state capital.

“Now what they’re going to see is an investment by the state and by this college and its supporters in trying to do something that will make the quality of life in this community and in this state better and also make us economically stronger,” he said.
