TRENTON — The Mercer County Board of Freeholders is mulling a five-year contact with the foremen’s union that would increase salaries by nearly 8 percent over the course of the pact.

Freeholders could approve the contract at their formal meeting tonight.

The contract, which is retroactive to Jan. 1, 2012, extends through Dec. 31, 2016, and covers 21 supervisors of various trades, according to county officials.

AFSCME Local 2320 members would not receive a retroactive increase for 2012, but would see increases of 1.78 and 1.89 percent, retroactive to Jan. 1, 2013 and Jan. 1, 2014, respectively. The union would get 1.94 percent raises the next year and the year after, under the terms of the contract.
