on July 30, 2014 at 12:57 PMTRENTON — The Trenton Police Department is seeking volunteers to join a task force focused on assisting victims of domestic violence, officials said today.
Members of the Trenton Domestic Violence Victim Response Team work with police to provide support, information, to victims during a domestic violence crisis. Trained members of the response team meet with domestic violence victims to help them make educated decisions and improve individual and family conditions, according to a release.
Last year, team volunteers responded 476 times to speak with domestic violence victims, providing referral counseling and emotional support to 593 people, authorities said.
Response team training is scheduled to begin in early September. Those interested must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license and available transportation, have no criminal history, attend mandatory training and bi-monthly meetings and have the ability to communicate well with others.
