Gov. Christie says he will work with Trenton Mayor Eric Jackson to improve capital city

TRENTON – Making up for lost time, Gov. Chris Christie and Trenton Mayor Eric Jackson said they are working to build a relationship and work together to improve Trenton.

“The capital city is an important place for our state not only historically but today and moving forward,” Christie said during a bill signing in front of Trenton City Hall this afternoon.

“I look forward to working with him and his administration to make sure that our capital city becomes better — not only for those who come and work here, but just as importantly, for those who live here each and every day,” Christie said.

Christie showed this willingness, choosing Trenton City Hall as the backdrop as he signed a bill to reform the state’s bail system. With his signature, there will be a ballot question put to voters in November asking if they would support changing bail laws to allow nonviolent offenders who cannot afford their bails a way out of jail pending trial on their charges and allow judges to hold violent offenders without bail.
