Taking to the streets: Unity walk seeks to promote bond between emergency responders, community

TRENTON — Nearly 100 Trenton volunteers from police and fire departments, city government and cultural organizations will walk through the city on Saturday, stopping at four firehouses along the way, in an effort to promote a stronger bond among city officials, emergency responders and the community.

“We can get more accomplished when we work together,” Ernie Doggett III, president of the Trenton African American Fire Fighters Association, said.

He made the announcement today at fire station Engine 8 on Stuyvesant Avenue.

Participants will rendezvous at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Cadwalader Park, where they will fan out to different fire stations for the Public Safety Unity Walk, which will actually consist of simultaneous walks at various locations.
