“We wanted to bring families together,” said Robin Hallett-Muhammad, an organizer of the event.
“With a lot of shootings going on in Trenton, I am so tired of hearing this negative stuff,” Hallett-Muhammad said.
She worked with Jasi Edwards, a member of civic groups Voices of Trenton and Jake Smith from Wake Up Now, to plan the family fun day and movie night called “Capital City Peace Picnic and BBQ.”
The activities will include relay races, hula-hoop contests and water balloon games. A DJ will provide music and Hallett-Muhammad said she is still looking for community members to donate different games or board games for the event.
