The next TPPB Meeting is just over a week away on Wednesday, May 13th at 3:15 pm and we are very excited about the agenda! Like the spring weather, we are optimistic that the focus will renew and energize us as we move forward.
During the May TPPB meeting, we will actively listen to and learn from a roundtable discussion including approximately 20 young adults from Trenton. We will ask youth to share their perspective on their City. Questions may include: what would you do to create a safer Trenton, keep kids in school, pave the way for young adults to find employment opportunities, or make healthy and wise decisions? What kinds of youth support programs would you love to have available? Toby Sanders and Roberto Hernandez will help facilitate the discussion.
TPPB facilitators have recently been researching best practices and developing a model for a potential TPPB Youth Advisory Board. The goal would be to establish and sustain over the long term a consistent dialogue between the traditionally adult membership of TPPB and young Trentonians from diverse backgrounds. We look forward to discussion emerging between the youth roundtable participants and our TPPB members as to the possibility of forming such an advisory board.
If you have specific question(s) you would like to be poised to the roundtable participants, please send them via email to trentonpolicyboard@gmail.com. You can of course bring your questions with you to the meeting.
After the roundtable, we will break out into small group discussions, during which we will hear from undergraduate students who have prepared policy presentations relevant to our working groups.
We look forward to seeing you on the 13th. The meeting will be held in the main Community Room on the first floor of the Kerney Campus of Mercer County College, located at 102 N. Broad Street in Trenton. Parking is available in the Garage across the street. Tokens to cover the cost of parking will be available free of charge at security as you leave campus.
