TRENTON — Two men were wounded during separate city shootings Tuesday into Wednesday, one an apparent ambush in a Wilbur section alleyway, the other a case with an uncooperative victim, police said yesterday.

The first crime occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m., on what police believe was the 200 block of Coolidge Avenue. They had to peg the location based on a 911 call for shots being fired around the same time because the victim claimed he was shot on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Lt. Mark Kieffer said.

“He’s trying to throw us for some reason,” he said.

The 23-year-old Hamilton resident showed up at the Capital Health Regional Medical Center emergency room door with a gunshot wound to the right leg. A full description of the lone suspect who shot him was not available.

Police were called out to Morton Alley behind the 200 block of Tioga Street about 12:10 a.m., where they found a 24-year-old city man shot in the right triceps, right thigh, and right foot, Kieffer said.

The victim told police he was walking down the alleyway when two men started shooting at him. No motive was provided by police Wednesday.

The two assailants are described as a black male, dark-skinned, 5-foot-9, medium build, wearing dark clothing and armed with a handgun, along with a black male, caramel-skinned, 5-foot-4, thin build, armed with a handgun.

Detectives are investigating both shootings. The victims in each are expected to survive. Anyone with information can call police at (609) 989-4170, or the Confidential Tip Line at (609) 989-3663.
