TRENTON – Two city residents were arrested and $17,000 in drugs and five guns were seized in law enforcement raids at three locations last week, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said today.

Melvin Rivera, 31, was charged with multiple drug and weapons offenses after officers found 50 grams of powder cocaine, marijuana, heroin, $483 in cash and several guns in his home on the 1000 block of Indiana Avenue, the prosecutor’s office said in a news release.

Officers seized a Ruger SR .22 caliber rifle, a Saiga AK 47-style assault rifle, a Century Arms assault rifle and a fully loaded .32 caliber revolver, the release said.

In a search of a storage unit belonging to Rivera, police found a Honda motorcycle and an ATV, which were both seized as drug proceeds, the release said.

Javier Caquias, 39, was arrested at his house on the first block of Chase Street. Police found seven marijuana plants in his backyard and more marijuana, digital scales, a shotgun and $446 in cash inside his home, the release said.

In total, police seized $11,600 in marijuana, $5,200 in powder cocaine, $380 in heroin and five guns, the release said. The marijuana plants were valued at $7,000.

Rivera’s bail is set at $250,000. Caquias was charged with several drug offenses, given court dates and released.
