Capital Health sells Mercer Campus hospital in Trenton to company that plans health, wellness plaza

TRENTON – Nearly two years after Capital Health left its Mercer hospital in Trenton for the newly constructed medical center in Hopewell, the hospital announced yesterday it has sold the former medical center to a private company looking to develop the 650,000-square-foot space into a health and wellness complex.

Priti Pandya-Patel, founder of Global Life Enterprises, which purchased the property, said the location on Bellevue Avenue is ideal for a network of medical and health-care offices that can supplement services offered at the hospitals in the area. The sale price was not disclosed.

“Right now, because that area does not have any large medical services, I think it would be something that is definitely needed,” Pandya-Patel said. “What we are going to try to provide is going to be more long-term care services.”

Capital Health continues to maintain a satellite emergency room at the Mercer campus and operates its regional medical center in Trenton less than two miles away on Brunswick Avenue.

Pandya-Patel will host an open house at the facility later on Sept. 24 from 4 to 6 p.m.
