on October 31, 2013 at 6:40 AMCapital Health Regional Medical Centers in Trenton and Hopewell Township, and Princeton HealthCare System in Plainsboro were named among the top hospitals in the country for certain types of treatment yesterday by the Joint Commission, the federal agency that accredits hospitals every three years throughout the country.
Capital Health was recognized for using clinical processes that are shown to improve patients’ care for heart attacks, heart failures, stroke and surgical care. The hospital group was in the same “top performer” ranking last year. Meanwhile, Princeton HealthCare System was again recognized as a top performer in heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care, according to the list.
“We take a great amount of pride in what we do. The reason we’re in this business and this setting is because we want to take care of people,” Capital Health President and CEO Al Maghazehe said. He said the hospital was very pleased to have made the top ranking again this year.
“We work very hard to make sure we do a good job. This is the kind of stuff that gets us going; this is what we live for,” he said.
In the area of stroke treatment, Capital Health is the only hospital in the country recognized both as a top performer and certified by the Joint Commission as an advanced comprehensive stroke center, Maghazehe said.
