Business administrator admits he misused federal grant money, says Trenton will repay funds

on November 20, 2013 at 10:20 PM, updated November 20, 2013 at 10:21 PMTRENTON — The city will have to repay thousands of dollars in misused federal grant money and a worker will have to be reassigned after Business Administrator Sam Hutchinson acknowledged today he was wrong to assign the worker to the administration offices.
Hutchinson had argued for more than a year that he was entitled to employ the worker, Chikia Robinson, in his offices even though her salary was paid for with federal funds intended for the Department of Housing and Economic Development.
“This err was mine and corrective action has been taken,” Hutchinson wrote in a letter sent on Monday to City Council President George Muschal.
