The annex, which was built as an addition onto the courthouse in 1938, is occupied by the County Clerkâs office, the prosecutors, the board of elections, and some courthouse operation and maintenance staff, said county spokeswoman Julie Willmot.
The main renovations to the annex will deal with meeting fire codes, such as upgrading the fire alarm system and modifying exits, but there also will be some cosmetic improvements, Willmot said.
The project will be paid for out of the bond proceeds from the new criminal courthouse project, county spokesman Michael Boonin said.
County clerk Paula Sollami Covello welcomes the upgrades to the 75-year-old annex.
