I have been active in civil rights and social justice since the age of 13 in my home town of Trenton, working tirelessly in the civil rights movement across the state and across the country. For more than 25 years, I was a board member of the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolence and Social Change, where I lobbied to create the first King Commission in the country. I also worked to make Trenton the first city in New Jersey to observe a Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
As chief of protocol for Trenton mayors, and friend and advisor to the last eight New Jersey governors, I understand the commitment and perseverance that’s needed to bring about positive change in our capital city and our state. As a national, state and local fundraiser, a founder and co-founder, as well as board member of several state and national organizations, I know what good leadership looks like, and Jim Golden exemplifies good leadership.
Mr. Golden is the best candidate for mayor of Trenton, because he recognizes the ethical mess that our City Hall has become. Not only has he identified the problems with the current direction of the city, but he also has tangible and targeted goals to fix them and to put our city back on track. I am confident that Mr. Golden will effectively collaborate with leaders throughout the city to implement smart policies to move Trenton forward.
