Daylight/Twilight students to move out, making way for Trenton Central High School kids during construction

Despite concerns voiced by parents, students and teachers from Trenton’s alternative high school, the superintendent will renew his proposal to move those students to a smaller location so that Trenton Central High School students can use the building while a new high school is being built.

Superintendent Francisco Duran said the district met with representatives from both TCHS and the Daylight/Twilight Alternative High School to discuss the move, looked at all of the options and decided to move forward with the initial recommendation.

“We will do everything possible to create space for them (the Daylight/Twilight students) that is appropriate,” Duran said.

When the proposal was first raised at a school board meeting in February, representatives from the alternate school noted the school at 135 E. Hanover St. was built with the Daylight/Twilight program in mind.

Students said the school is in a neutral gang territory, and the proposal to move the program to the Cadwalader School, in the city’s West Ward, would put them in danger.
