TRENTON –Trenton Mayor Eric Jackson is seeking resumes from city residents interested in filling two vacant positions on the Trenton school board.

Two board members – Sasa Olessi-Montaño and Mary Taylor-Hayes –stepped down just before Jackson took office July 1. Both were originally appointed by former Mayor Tony Mack and were re-appointed by former Mayor George Muschal, who held the post for about four months after Mack’s conviction on federal corruption charges.

In Trenton, all members of the school board are mayoral appointees.

Those interested in serving in the positions are asked to submit a typed resume to Jackson’s newly appointed Chief of Staff Francis Blanco by 2 p.m. Wednesday. The office may be reached at (609) 989-3030.

Jackson said today he is hoping to fill the vacancies before the next scheduled school board meeting on Aug. 25. Jackson said he is reaching out to the public because he is trying to fulfill a campaign promise he made not to appoint friends, family or those in his inner circle and instead look for the best qualified and interested individuals.
