on September 10, 2014 at 5:42 PMTRENTON – Although it will be at least four months before appraisers are sent door-to-door to determine the value of each property in Trenton, city officials are readying for what is likely to be a long and difficult process.
The city is set to receive tax maps approved by the state next week, the first step in the revaluation process, ordered to be conducted in the city by the Mercer County Board of Taxation in 2011.
Once the maps are received the city will begin to plan several community meetings informing residents about the process, how it will take place and how to identify the individuals working for the company completing the revaluation.
“We are anticipating that we will have the community meetings that will inform the residents,” said Michael Walker, spokesman for the city administration. “That will happen sometime before January 1, 2015.”
He could not provide details about how many meetings there would be, when they would take place or where.
